These routes have been selected to provide the experience of Halkidiki's unspoiled and characteristic regions. Discover scenery, history and other interests by exploring areas that will reward the more independent traveller. The varied landform of Halkidiki is depicted in most of the routes with the combination of mountain, forest and sea. See the routes on the map of Halkidiki.

NIKITI - NEOS MARMARAS

This short drive (20Km) along a wooded ridge, rocky hills and views over the sea with small islands leads to the Northern end of the Sithonian mountains. Turning left at the signs for "Livadi" or "Agios Paulos", shortly after Spathies Beach, you will come to the mountains, where you can see all the coast of west Sithonia and the island "Keliphos" between Sithonia and Kassandra. The area and the sight are magnificent.

POLIGYROS - VRASTA - ORMILIA

After arriving at Poligyros, the capital town of Halkidiki, follow the road to Vrasta ( an authentic Hellenic village ) and then descend through a scenic landscape of valleys and rocky mountain peaks, farm-fields and endless olive groves, to the village of Ormilia.

GALATISTA - MT. HOLOMONDAS - ARNEA - MEGALI PANAGIA - GOMATI - PYRGADIKIA

The drive runs through the northern mountainous part ending at the seaside village of Pyrgadikia. The valleys and mountain ranges are followed by the climb up to the deeply forested peak of Mount Holomondas, through the town of Arnea and then descending gently to the coastline between the peninsules of Sithonia and Mt. Athos.

NEA FOKEA - KALITHEA

A short drive on the peninsula of Kassandra along a wooded ridge with views over sea and sandy coastline.

KRIOPIGI - FOURKA

The route cuts through the peninsula of Kassandra over the tops of hills with meadows and tall trees.

POLICHRONO - NEA SKIONI

Once more Kassandra - a windy mountainous road with spectacular panoramic views over wooded slopes and sea.

NIKITI - KALAMITSI

The route runs along the western coast of Sithonia either near sea level or higher but always through rich vegatation, unusual rock formations and endless sandy beaches. Make a detour from Neos Marmaras up to village of Parthenon ( with interesting architecture ). After Porto Koufo comes the rugged and dramatic landscape leading to the south-east of Sithonia, with great view across the sea at the "Holy Mountain". Wonderful panoramic views line this route.

SARTI - AGIOS NIKOLAOS

The drive runs on the steep slopes of Mount Itamos along the eastern coast of Sithonia. Hairpin bends through very rich and dense wooded slopes ending at secluded sandy beaches. The second half is an easier straighter drive with many inviting beaches to visit along the way.
